Embedded electric heating mats for frost protection and snow melting in concrete and rolled asphalt surfaces. Ramps, access roads, car parks, entrance areas, and pedestrian surfaces. Available in three power densities: 240, 300, and 400 W/m².

The standard specification for frost protection in concrete and rolled asphalt

The ETHERMA BRS heating mat is the primary frost protection specification for open-area surfaces in concrete and rolled asphalt construction. Heating elements are embedded in the surface structure - in the concrete or asphalt course - during installation or resurfacing, at a depth of approximately 7mm from the finished surface. Once embedded, the element is structural: invisible, protected, and permanently in place.

BRS mats are available in three power densities to match the application: 240 W/m² for private ramps, smaller access roads, terraces, and pedestrian areas below 1,000m altitude; 300 W/m² for public ramps, car park access, and high-frequency pedestrian areas; 400 W/m² for high-demand applications requiring maximum snow-melting output. Power density selection is part of the heat load calculation - ARC will specify the correct output for your surface area, traffic loading, and design ambient temperature.

IP X7 rated - certified waterproof to full submersion depth. Suitable for all UK surface water exposure conditions including snowmelt volumes and standing water. Resistant to vehicle fluids, acids, and alkalis. Compatible with eFROST dual-parameter control for automatic, energy-efficient operation.

Key Specifications:

This short video explains how electric frost protection systems are specified and installed - what the products look like, how they're laid, and how the controls work. Useful context for any application in the ARC Frost Protect range.

ARC Assured

From site survey to annual service

ARC Assured is ARC's complete end-to-end programme for frost protection systems. It covers the full lifecycle of the system. One programme. One point of responsibility.

Most frost protection failures are not product failures. They are failures of specification, installation, or maintenance. An under-specified system fails to protect the surface. An incorrectly installed system voids the product warranty. A system that is never tested after installation degrades without detection - until the heating season it fails to perform is the one that causes an incident.

ARC Assured provides the installation record and the annual maintenance documentation that activates and maintains the 30year e-Warranty entitlement.
