Free-lay frost protection cable for block paving, sand bed, and mortar bed surfaces.

The only product in the ETHERMA frost protection range designed for these substrates. Element spacing is adjusted on-site, so it works even on irregular or awkward surface shapes.

The only frost protection solution for block paving and mortar bed substrates

If you’re heating a block-paved driveway, commercial terrace, public realm surface, or car park, the surface is almost certainly built on sand bed or mortar bed, and that’s a problem for standard heating mats. Products like the BRS and GSN simply aren’t compatible with this type of construction. The BRLH is the only cable in the ETHERMA frost protection range that’s built specifically for these substrates.

What’s great about this cable is that the installer adjusts the element spacing on-site to suit your exact surface area - so it works even when the surface is an irregular shape. Drainage channels, gully positions, and surface furniture are all worked around during installation, keeping the heating evenly distributed across the whole area. And unlike a standard mat, there’s no cutting required (which would void the warranty) the cable simply gets routed into place.

The BRLH-30 runs at 30 W/m. How much cable you need depends on your surface area and the required heat output. ARC works this out for you and supplies the cable cut to the right length for your project.

Key Specifications:

Output: 30 W/m (single heating element; element spacing determines W/m² output)
Voltage: 230 / 400 V
IP rating: IP X7
Substrate: Block paving in sand bed | Mortar bed | Irregular geometry surfaces
Laying: Free-lay with adjustable element spacing to match heat load calculation
Networked high-temperature polymer insulation

Where to Use:

Block-paved driveways and access roads
Concrete block pedestrian routes and public realm
Commercial terraces with sand or mortar bed construction
Curved or irregular surface areas where mat format is impractical
Areas with drainage gullies, channels, or surface furniture requiring cable routing

ARC Assured

From site survey to annual service

ARC Assured is our complete end-to-end programme for frost protection systems - covering the full lifecycle from initial survey through to annual maintenance. One programme, one point of responsibility.

Most frost protection failures are not product failures. They are failures of specification, installation, or maintenance. An under-specified system fails to protect the surface. An incorrectly installed system voids the product warranty. A system that is never tested after installation degrades without detection - until the heating season it fails to perform is the one that causes an incident.

ARC Assured gives you the installation record and annual service documentation that activates and maintains your 30-year eWARRANTY entitlement.
